Recorder Competition

We did it! We won!

Finally, the team from St. George's emerged as winners again. After 2 years, if I'm not mistaken.

We were the first team in Dewan Sri Pinang to perform and we played 2 songs, Lembayung Jingga and Moon River. It went rather well and then we returned to our seats to continue watching our competitors.

After all 7 teams finished performing, the judges spent a few minutes deliberating on the results. All of us held hands and started hoping. The emcee announced the third placed winner. It was a school from the mainland.

Then, second place went to PFS. All of us groaned as we expected the first place winners to be SGGS. Suddenly, the emcee said: "If PFS who performed second, won second for this competiton, would the team that performed first win first too?"

All of us feared the worst. That the emcee was poking fun at us as we did not win anything. We had never looked so depressed before this.

The next minute, SGGS was announced as the winner for the state level recorder competition. There was a few moments of silence as all of us were too stunned to respond. Then, we screamed.

Real loud and high.

All of us rushed to the stage to claim our trophies and smiled broadly.

We had finally proven ourselves. And that all the time and effort spent was worth it.
